Dear All,

I have some questions, can I open a bank account and apply for the driving licence in Florida before receiving my physical green card, after landing I supposed to receive SSN before the green card which take more time, can I do that based on the I-551 passport stamp ??

As an immigrant will enter US after 2 months and supposed to receive the I-551 stamp as I said above, the SSN and eventually the green card based on this can I drive in US using my homeland driving licence, knowing I will take rental car ?

Thank you so much

usually 1 of 2 things happen, for ssn card:

1. it arrives within 6 weeks of POE event, at address listed in DS-260 or

2. you go in to SSA office 2 to 3 weeks after POE event, apply for it. go back next day, get the #. with the #, you can do stuff.

so, with that said, what do you _want_ to do?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Hi, thanks for the useful repl, for sure will go to SS office after landing to cut the long story short, but going to start the driving license procedure will require that SSN first ??

it's useful - but ssn usage depends on the state. are you research your state's requirements? yes? no? if no, why no ?

Yes I did, according to Florida DMV they don't mention about the SSN on the website, but I read online on other websites that they might request it, so just wanna make sure if anyone have his own exp in this.
