Thanks very much. You made lot of sense. I filed for my wife with a February 11th priority date and as you know July 11th was my five month mark. So I called my senator and asked them to check on the status for me. Today I received a response. my case is waiting a background clearance. Oh also NSC said they process petition between 5-6 months and because of that we are not able to submit a case inquiry online.

Well hey, at least you have some idea of what's going on. I guess it seems easy for me to say relax when we've been approved but I do mean it in the nicest possible way, it's such a stressful process anyway I think we have to try to make it as easy on ourselves as possible.

What I would love is for USCIS to be a tad more transparent and say exactly what it is that's going on while we're twiddling our thumbs for 5-6 months! I think if we knew they were doing background checks and that some take longer than others for whatever reason, we'd feel less like our applications were just sitting in a cupboard somewhere gathering dust!

Nice words.

I believe it's a mistake but it's surprising to see such a huge step backwards. I'm used to hearing December 2014 or 5 months. My only concern is if for some reason you go past the 5 month estimate, they won't be able to create a service ticket as it's still withing the processing time on their website.

Wish they get it right and not have so many issues. The line for I130's filed by GC holders has disappeared too.

I have just got off the phone with the USCIS center, to ask about my case, and sure enough the person who I talked to, said that he was going to check the processing time online, and he told me that the NSC is working on January 16, 2014 cases. I was very frustrated, because all he said, I can't do anything because your application is not within that range. So, in other words, they will be basing themselves as to what the Processing Website says, and won't be able to help if you application was submitted at a later date. :ranting:

Indeed, that is the extent of their training. They also volunteered that we can go to local office in order to submit service request. I don't think we should be worried by the date posted online. I tried to be polite as possible since I don't want to cause any unnecessary delay.

Thanks for the good vibe! I need it, after talking to this person. I have a temper, so I wasn't too polite to him, I hope that doesn't delay my case! Anyways, he started the conversation saying that no one has looked into my case. Later in the conversation, he said something like...well, maybe the delay is because we need additional evidence...and I said, how can you need additional evidence if you just told me no one has looked into my case??? I was getting very frustrated. But it does seem that their training or job is just tell you what they see on the website. Basically telling you information that you can look up yourself. Which is something else I told him, that he is giving me details I can go on the website and lookup myself.

Sorry to hear that! On the bright side, you can return the ball to their court asap and overnight the documents! I don't speak from personal experience but you might be in front of the line to get a response back next time.

How does this make any sense?

I-130 Petition for Alien Relative U.S. citizen filing for a spouse, parent, or child under 21 January 16, 2014

Yesterday the customer service Immigration officer told me that NSC is currently processing the files from December 16th, 2014. Today they posted Jan. 16,2014. God help us.

I understand you are going through a difficult time, please don't get discouraged. Look at in the bright side, at least you know they have gone over your case. Just carefully read what they need, and provide it to them. I've read here of people going through the same thing as you with the RFE and once they submit what they need,they get approved fairly quickly. Hang in there! :)
