On January 23, 2015 our I-129F Petition for Fiance(E) was approved, and we received a letter in the mail confirming it. Now it has been sent to the NVC in Portsmouth, NH.

My question is, How long will it take for us to receive this at my local US embassy (In my case, in El Salvador, Central America), since the process seems to be going faster than we thought (Yay!!!). Our case seems to be have worked in a very different way from the cases found here at VJ.

Thanks for reading!

My petition was approved on the 20th and I received my case number today (2 weeks later). I would probably guess another 2 weeks from that, maybe?

:time: everyone files at the Dallas lockbox and then is sent to either Texas or California service center. Nobody can file a K1 at Nebraska. I know the timelines can be confusing but getting it right is a real help to the VJ statistics.

We waited 30 days to contact the NVC (As stated in the NOA2 Hardcopy). We have called the NVC 603 334-0700 countless times and the line always seems to be busy. It says to call back and hungs up.

We are a little concerned because we do not know our case number and if it has been sent to the Embassy in El Salvador. We waited 30 days because the paper says so, but now I feel maybe we should have tried before.

Maybe chrismorrison or Pheebs1201 can shed some light in this matter.

Thanks in advance!

You don't need to wait 30 days to contact the NVC. You can call even a few days after you receive your NOA2.

When you call, if you get a busy signal then immediately hang up and dial again. There were times that I dialed almost 100 times in less than 2 minutes trying to get through. Keep trying and eventually you will get through. Calling is the best way to get your case number.

Once you have your case number you can check to see if your case is already at the embassy, by checking online here: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx (you will look under IMMIGRANT visa option).

Keep calling NVC until they give you your case number and then you can track it with CEAC

Thanks everyone! My Fiancée called in, and after many attempts, we finally got our case number. Everything has been successfully received at the Embassy here in San Salvador!

Time to prepare for the interview :D !!!!

A quick question: My Fiancée called a support line and was told that we still need to wait to receive some correspondence from the Embassy here in San Salvador. I know the Embassy has had the case for almost a week, but the person who advised my Fiancée told her that it might take 3-4 more weeks until we are able to book the inteview. For some reason this doesn't sound right... at least compared to many timelines of VJers that I have seen on the forum.

Another thing that concerns me: mail system in El Salvador is so slow and unreliable that even Visas have to be picked up at a courier location instead of receiving them in my own place.

Does this time frame sound right? What should we do? Should we just wait those 3/4 weeks or is there any other place to contact to get more info?
