This topic got quiet.

Just got back from a Vegas trip and went right to my mailbox and totally surprise with two letter from USCIS.

They are actually my Welcome Notice and I-130 approval. I'm now Legal Permanent Resident. They are dated June 29 which was my interview day so I was approved on the spot even though the Interviewer didn't say so and USCIS website is still not updated.

Can't wait for the green card to come :o

See you guys in two years for the ROC :)

I heard they give citizenship after serving one year. How easy is this? Is it worth it?

It's actually 10 years. However even if you only do a minimum time I would think that would help immensely in filing for renewal/naturalization.my husband plans on signing up as soon as he is approved. With the way immigration laws change so quickly we don't want to risk him being denied and deported in the future.

I heard they give citizenship after serving one year. How easy is this? Is it worth it?

Naturalization at Basic Training

USCIS established the Naturalization at Basic Training Initiative in August 2009 with the Army to give noncitizen enlistees the opportunity to naturalize when they graduate from basic training. Under this initiative, USCIS conducts all naturalization processing including the capture of biometrics, the naturalization interview and administration of the Oath of Allegiance on the military installation. Since 2009 USCIS has expanded the initiative to the Navy, Air Force, and finally to the Marine Corps in 2013, giving enlistees of these branches equal opportunity to (in most cases) leave basic training as U.S. citizens
