Hello,

I would like to request that an interview date be moved up. Before you think I'm crazy, I feel that I have reasonable grounds to at least make the request.

The embassy misplaced our documents and lost nine precious days lost (ouch!!). Now I get a date 8 weeks out. I have important work assignments that are difficult for me to start until we can set up our new home.

The Department of State employee in the US said we would need to talk to the US Embassy to request a change. I called the embassy, they transfer my call to an extension that rings and rings for 10 minutes and then the call dies.

I want to know who I would contact at the US embassy, and what I might say. All I want is for them to consider the request.

Is that unreasonable? Could requesting have a negative impact?

Thanks for any input you could provide. This site is awesome!

Definitly e-mail them. And lot's of luck......

Be sure to let everyone know if you have success so others can move up their dates too!

You may be right. I find it interesting that someone would get upset by the expression of a request. I guess if they're extremely busy, don't much like their jobs, and consider the applicants a nuisance, I could understand them being vindictive like that.

The irony is that the connotation of embassy is a place for civility and diplomacy ... Go figure ...

Emailing may be more efficient, and less expensive.

Check out what it says about emailing or contacting the embassy here at this web site (see http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...amp;cty=Bogota). Note the part about what happens when you call in. That is exactly what I found. I waited for 10 minutes and got cut off.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Consulate Phone Number: 011-57-1-315-0811 (embassy)

011-57-1-315-1566 (consular section - visas)

Consulate E-Mail: IVBogota@state.gov Nolonger accepts e-mails

Best Way to Contact Consulate: Email-They don't answer emails anymore. It will be sent back to you.

Phone-You can call them at 877-804-5401. This call costs $15.50. They cut you off at 10 minutes and won't answer questions about scheduled times or a specific visa case, but they will tell you about the process...things I already knew.
