I'm thinking Thursday as well! He lives close to London, and with the timelines I have scoped out (thanks for keeping them updated ) being average of 7 days interview to delivery, I think that's our best bet.

Interview on Thursday the 19th, CEAC changed to non-immigrant ready on the 20th early early early in the morning. Aaaaaaaand still sitting at Ready. I want AP. :/ I know the weekend doesn't count but with those days in there it feels like it's been forever! Haha.

Any luck today? We were hoping for ours to be Issued today as it changed to Ready on the 19th and then AP around 3pm on the 20th.

We're planning to get married on April 3rd, we're both nervous and stressed out about this.

No change today sadly as the Embassy wrap up for the day. The waiting begins again tomorrow....

Maybe the embassy had an off day today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an "issued" status tomorrow.

Good lord. So I finally went to the DMV to ask when I could come in to take my permit test.

And then I asked what I needed, and the guy listed these..

EAD

SSN

Passport with visa

Letter from employer.

When he said the last one I got confused and told him I don't have a job yet because I can't drive....

So now I have to contact the DMV information hotline to find out what I can do...

Yay for me!

That sounds like such a headache. I was literally just searching for information about NY licenses for my fiance and my eye is starting to twitch. Everything is such a crazy process!!

That's crazy. All we need in MN is the social and passport, or birth certificate.

Same in Washington. Just need a valid photo ID and a social security number.

I think you are going to find as a K1, you are no more than a 90 visitor on paper and won't have the documentation you need to get a license until you have EAD which is documentation on one year allowed in the US.

Ohio- they probably want proof of residence. See list.

From what I see I should be fine. And not need an employment letter.

I've got family visiting so I'm gonna call the number the guy told me to either tomorrow or Thursday and hopefully they will tell me I'm fine.

Really want to start learning so I can get a job, there's no other way I can get one without a car right now ?.

I suspect that DMV employee was off his rocker. What you should need is a proof of residence, like a bill or envelope or letter from an official source. I remember using the envelope from the state department my original passport came in and a registered letter from a lawyer and a bank statement as proof of my residency way back in the day.

Don't know how they expect me to get a job where I live when I don't even know how to drive yet!

IDs are issued weird here. You don't go to the DMV, you go to the county license office. I can take him to the county next to us for a computerized permit test. I stopped in the other day while running errands and they said if He has his passport and SSN it's fine. The lady said she'll take his passport with the I-94 in it for his permit and if I bring in a bill or bank statement with his name on it she'd be even happier. I work at the bank I am with, and adding him won't be hard to do (just need SSN).
