CSC Processing Dates for Family AOS

Ok, I just tried my luck at calling the misinformation line and for once had a relatively pleasant experience with a nice lady on the other end (it takes FOREVER to get to a real person, by the way ). My whole reason for calling was just to see if I could get any tidbit of information on why there were no processing dates for family based I-485 applications at CSC. She told me that the reason they don't post them is because they (at CSC) are supposed to be working on them first, or as they get there. So, while this isn't much help to those of us who have been waiting there awhile, at least we have some vague idea on what is going on there. She also put in a service request for my case to see if we can find out what is happening but as well all know, those often do no good and get no response, but I will hassle them once again if I don't hear anything in 45 days. Seeing as how some people get approved so fast from CSC it seems that the actual processing of the cases must not take long, so namechecks are still my only guess as to why some sit there longer than others. That sounds like good news for all of us. It seems CSC is going in a good direction, and will be the one responsible for AOSs afterall. My guess is that eventually every case will go there for processing.

Yeah, good and bad news. Good news in that they're supposedly doing them first, but bad news for those of us waiting for months because it really sheds no light on why we've sat there for a long time. All we can do is guess

I feel sorry for the people sitting at CSC with no word on their cases after several months. At least we were interviewed in Pittsburgh and told what the holdup is.

I know I've probably gotten a bad rap in this forum for being short tempered about the CSC situation. I constantly feel like I'm trying to make up for that. My whole problem with the entire AOS scenario is the lack of transparency - in other words I'm not just annoyed about CSC - I'm annoyed in general!

IMO the people sitting at CSC after some length of time have more to be frustrated about than I do.

And I think that stinks.

I think the FBI namecheck is a good guess, but knowing USCIS's mistakes, it could also means you're sitting in a desk forgotten, which means, call, call, call, bug them until they do something.

Yeah, just knowing what the heck is going on would be really nice. If it is a namecheck, then hey, what can we do, but at least we know about it.

PRECISELY! Joel and I are mailing out a letter to our congressman tomorrow. I want to know what the h*ll is going on. We have that right and Joel more than anyone. There is no rhyme nor reason as to when cases are approved as we've seen so far. For some to be approved in 31 days, with AOS being filed several months after ours and others, doesn't make any sense if they claim they're processing them in the order in which they are received. From what I can see that's bullsh*t.

For those blessed enough to already have completed this process, please don't think I begrudge you in any way for getting yours so quickly. This squarely rests on the shoulders of USCIS and dammit, we are tired of their #######. We want an explanation.

Folinskyinla, an immigration specialist attorney who posts at BE often trots out a good story about an old case of his.

Identical twin sisters, AOS for both sent in on the same day, prepared by the same person, with the same evidence and essentially the exact same fact pattern--the only difference was their first name.

Onoe I-130 was approved in 21 days; the other took +9 months.

As my husband likes to say "It's just the way things ARE".

But my excitement turned to exasperation today when I received a letter from the USCIS.....

Basically it was a letter letting my daughter know that I had made enquiries on her case back on September 14th!!! and that it was stuck in namecheck hell (their wording was "background checks remain open") and if she didn't hear anything after 6 months of the date of the letter to call. So pretty much USCIS just gave themselves ANOTHER 6 months before I can chase it up. It only took them 4 and a half months to send the letter, it was dated January 30th. Nice going, huh??

They just love putting us in endless loops....it seems like every inquiry you ever make results in a wait XX months/days (years? ) and when that inquiry never does anything they tell you to wait again!

I appreciate your saying that. (Personally, I think you and others on the board have plenty to be frustrated about!) I understand why you're short-tempered, and as the process drags on, I'm finding myself more and more short-tempered, too. (And I haven't been waiting as long as some of the CSC folks, either!) We're all in the same boat together, but that doesn't make it easier for us all the time.

i just wish we had better communication with them all, or a more specific picture of what actually happens once they get an application instead of having to guess or speculate. i'm sure they are overworked, etc. but i know at least my hubby and i wouldn't be so annoyed and frustrated if we didn't have to wait and wait and wait for just a tiny bit of information. it seems like the process is a big complicated secret.

i am happy for those who do go through quickly and i know many have been waiting longer than my husband but i'm glad we're not the only ones who are quite angry... now we are in the waiting for an rfe to come in the mail...

Exactly, just some update saying we have your case but are pending namecheck (or whatever it is that is holding things up) would make things a lot better because at least we know they haven't forgotten us and it's out of their hands until the namecheck (or whatever) comes back. Now if we could get to the stupid FBI, that would be even better!

They have approved mine greencard on the way- but no info on the kids K2???? I was totally assuming that they would be done with mine, no such luck then? I hate this. I would rather have thiers than mine.

Thanks for starting this thread Miranda, and I'm glad you were able to get a service request from them after you've been waiting a while.

I was given a service request on Dec 19th and haven't heard anything in regards to it. They said I should have heard in 45 days so I guess I'll have to call back soon and ask whats going on.

I hate being all "woe is me" and try to look on the bright side about my life here in the states, the friends I've made and the life I'm building with my husband, but after hearing nothing at all- not even having a touch since the date of transfer to CSC on 14th September it's starting to get depressing. Although I'm probably stuck in background checks, because I have received nothing since sep 14 it makes me wonder if my file is lost or all kinds of other possibilities. If they would only tell me that it was indeed the background and name check then I think I could wait longer knowing at least the reason for the hold up.

I try to be happy about the approvals from people who have only filed a month or so ago, but there comes a point when it becomes almost heartbreaking to see all these people wiz ahead of me. My husband has even told me he'll ban me from visajourney if I keep telling him about all the people who were approved before us haha.

I hope you hear something back from your congressman Karencee, I'm tempted to write to mine but really have no idea how to word it or what to even ask for. I guess at this point I just want to know that my file isn't lost and arrived in California!
