Hi guys!

So I received a checklist for my AOS saying I did not send a marriage certificate.. I was married in Pakistan and the NVC requires an Urdu Nikkahnama (marriage certificate) with an English translation. My Nikkahnama was originally in English, which is also allowed by the NVC (according to the reciprocity page for Pakistan on the NVC website).. so basically the NVC messed up. I sent all necessary documents AGAIN as a response to the checklist as advised by the lady on the phone at NVC. However, I now feel that I should have included a letter stating that it was actually the NVC's fault as an English nikkahnama is allowed, and that this is not just me sending them an English translation.

Even though I've sent them the marriage certificates again which have been received by the NVC, should I now mail another letter? Should I send the whole package again with the letter + marriage certificates? Would sending them an email be enough? I've asked for a supervisor review but I'm afraid that the supervisor might make the same mistake again. I'm also not sure if sending the whole package again might make things confusing for them as they'll have two scans for me.

Please advise!

Don't e-mail; they quote up to 60 days for response. Call and speak to a supervisor directly explaining that they have made a mistake. If they fail to resolve the issue, contact your state representative immediately.

I'm absolutely sick of the NVC not playing by their own rules. They need to be brought to task.

A) this is not an AOS checklist it is an IV checklist. B) were you requested for originals or just the photocopies? C) sending multiple responses is not necessary or needed. Yes it will slow things down if you do it.

Just the photocopies.

Reason behind the multiple responses is that I need to include that letter. Will it be slow down things because they will read my first mail.. and my case will be on hold until they read the second mail?

So you want to include a letter to the NVC that basically says they're dumb and shouldn't have issued you a checklist? I'm not sure that's very wise and I'm 100% sure it's unnecessary. :)

lol not entirely. I believe NVC assumed I had sent an English translation and not the original, so that is what I'd need to explain in the letter that my marriage certificate is not a translation but the original.

And also, once I send in marriage certificates and that's fine, is there a possibility that I may get a checklist for something else? Or do they check everything first and then look to see if something was missing?
