my fiance visa was issued today. Does anyone know how long it will be before it is ready for pick up? Im hoping he can travel by 5/18/2015.

Usually 24 - 48 hours. My fiancé's was issued on Monday (his son's on Friday) and we received the notice yesterday afternoon that is was ready for pickup and it's in his hands as we speak!!!

Congrats!

I received an email from NVC yesterday giving me my interview date, June 18th...it says nothing about making an appointment at the VAC prior to the interview. I remember the DS-260 being filled out and fee paid last year when the petition was first submitted. Does this still apply to me? I understand my husband has to have a medical exam done but I'm a little confused about the whole VAC appointment...

Hi!

You must still visit the VAC prior to your interview date. Here is the link that explains the visit and the required documents:

http://www.ustraveldocs.com/do/do-niv-offsitecollectionservices.asp

Visa Application Center (VAC)

On this page:

General Information

Most applicants must schedule an appointment at the Visa Application Center (VAC) before their interview at the U.S. Embassy. Applicants will have their biometric information, including their fingerprints and digital photograph, registered at the VAC.

Visa applicants should personally attend their VAC and U.S. Embassy interviews unless they fall in one of the exempted categories. You should schedule both appointments online or via the call center.

Required Documents

You should present the following at the VAC:

  • A passport valid for travel to the United States with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions). If more than one person is included in your passport, each person applying for a visa must submit an application.
  • Your DS-160 confirmation page
  • Your appointment confirmation page

Has anyone recently scheduled their interview? I wanted to get an idea for the quickest appointment that was offered when you logged in.

I scheduled mine back in mid July and the earliest date was August 5. But I scheduled mine for September 23 due to work schedules for both of us. When you go on it will show what is available and you can pick and choose from the open dates and times. I even had to change ours one time because my fiance's bosses wouldn't let him off for the original date we had picked. Hope that helps.

Nothing. I had to fly out by myself. I will be calling first thing tomorrow asking for an update.

Are you checking the ustraveldocs site? We had our interview on 9/23 and his visa was issued today 9/28. On your approval paper it has the website to check.

Have you tried to use the ustraveldocs "provide feedback" option? Its on the same screen as scheduling and viewing your appointments. It looks like you can send them a message. I have no idea of how it works but wouldnt hurt to try.

Hi,

My fiancee has her appointment at the VAC this Thursday afternoon. I'm a little confused as to what she has to bring to this appointment? The DS-160 confimraton page says to only bring her passport, the I797 (NOA2), and proof we paid the visa fee. Is there anything else that must be brought with her?

Thanks,

A Nervous Petitioner

Michael
