Hello Everyone, I am getting ready to return to Russia in a few weeks, and when I return I will be filing the documentation for a K-1. I have 2 questions:

1) Should I include her Patronymic Name as her middle name on the forms?

2) I have an extensive criminal record. None of the crimes I committed are listed in the IMBRA Disclosure guidelines, nonetheless, I do have a record. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can defuse any problems with our petition because of these past convictions? The offenses are over 20 years old. They range from not-to-serious to pretty serious.

Thanks for any help and I look forward to gaining useful knowledge from this site.

1) Enter her name exactly as it is shown on her Passport. If she has a middle name, it would be listed that way on her Passport.

2) You may need to consult with an Attorney. I don't know enough about your case to advise one way or another

That's what I did for my fiancee's patronymic: listed it as her middle name, since it essentially is a middle name.

10/16/05: Met Inessa

06/06/06: Black day - left Kazakhstan and Inessa

12/28/06: Met Inessa again in Kazakhstan

12/30/06: Met the father

01/04/07: Got engaged!

02/01/07: Received paperwork from Inessa...assembling...

02/05/07: I-129F in the mail express! ::sigh:: let the waiting begin...

02/09/07: NOA1 received

02/14/07: email confirmation of NOA2...so fast!

02/20/07: NOA2 received via mail

02/24/07: compiling my and co-sponsor's I-134

02/26/07: Called NVC, petition received 02/22 and sent to embassy

02/28/07: Received packet via email with appointment date: April 19th! This is awesome!

03/12/07: Set-back - the citizenship center in Ust ran out of paper(?!) and can't print her birth certificate

03/15/07: Inessa received petition copy and supporting documents from me

Enter her name exactly as it is shown on her Passport. If she has a middle name, it would be listed that way on her Passport.

Russia's Foreign passport (used for travelling abroad) has no patronymic in the English translation of the name, while the national passport has it.

You may need to consult with an Attorney.

I second this. Petitions get a little bit complicated where criminal record/s are concerned.
