Interview?

My fiancee and I haven't met yet. I know it is required before filing for a K 1. I am the US citizen, and I'm unclear if my presence is required at the interview. If so, would it prudent to combine the trip for meeting her, with the interview. Having just said that; is that even possible with the meeting being a requirement for the filing and subsequent interview.

It is required that you meet in person within the last 2 years of when you send the petition, otherwise you will get an RFE for lack of documents. Documents that prove that you met are part of the petition packet. The petitioner is not required to be at the K-1 interview at all, so you can travel once to meet and not have to worry about traveling again just for the interview.

No, you need to meet BEFORE filing the petition (within two years before filing, to be exact). As for the petitioner being present at the interview, some embassies allow it, some don't. I suggest you check at your local forum/portal.
