Okay, so me and my fiance filed our petition on Nov 3rd, recieved an email for the NoA1 on Nov 6 and then nothing for 3 weeks. We checked the case status to find out it was returned by the post office and we put in a request for a copy on Dec 3rd. We still haven't recieved a hardcopy of the NoA1, no email or anything about NoA2 but today I recieved packet 3 in the mail, am I missing something or what? I thought you didn't get packet 3 until after the NoA2? My fiance is going to be calling tomorrow about the NoA1, should we be asking about the NoA2 as well?

Any advice or knowledge is appreciated, thanks!

Packet three, as in the one from the local embassy? How bizarre. I'd contact the embassy if I were you.

So you don't have a receipt number? And haven't received a letter from NVC either?

Since your file was sent to CSC, it could easily be at the embassy now.

I assume packet three also has your case number on it, so you could check the status under CEAC using the immigrant visa section.

Good luck whatever happens! Surely this is good news! :)

Ah I wasn't sure where to check it at thank you. The only number we had before packet 3 was the WAC# and it just says what it did in dec about it being returned to sender.

(it says my case number is invalid, guess it's not updated yet? will try calling tomorrow)

ok now it's working... I think this confuses me even more, I know we need to get the NoA2 and I need to email the document listed in packet 3 but can I do that before psychically recieving the NoA2? Not even getting an email or text about the NoA2 has really thrown me for a loop! Time to recover and finish this long journey! (Thank you for listening! Or.. reading? And for the advice :) )

Case Creation Date: 15-Dec-2014 Status Updated Date: 23-Dec-2014

Your case is ready for you to schedule an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal. If you have already scheduled an interview appointment, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the Consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment.

I don't believe you need the NOA2 for anything embassy-related, but you will need it for the Adjustment of Status process.

There was someone on here recently who was never sent their NOA2 and had it sent to them at a later date- can't remember who it was but they contacted USCIS and they eventually admitted it had never been sent out and had it sent to them.

Hopefully they, or someone else who has been through this, will see your post.

Perhaps creating a thread with the title "Never received NOA2, now at embassy stage" or something like that is more likely to catch their eye :) or ask a mod to change the title of this thread so it is more specific :)

For Montreal interview you do need your I-129F NOA2 paper in hand for interview

Whoops. Thank you for the correction.

Wow, I checked this earlier today, but I randomly decided to check the uscis status again and it now says approved Jan 6 and that they'll mail the notice! :) (I still find this very weird but whatever! lol) Thanks everyone! Good luck to you all as well! (I think they spy on this forum... )
