FedEx or DHL?

Done with shipping documents and anything via USPS always takes 1+ month to get there now they are asking for some kind of tax to get the documents... What carrier do you guys use when shipping ? I am trying to decide between FedEx and DHL, I am sending only documents.

I use fedex. It costs a little over $50 to send to Jamaica. Make sure you use a fedex store and not a business that offers fedex if you use them. It is cheaper that way. Hope you have a quick visa journey

If you are shipping just the documents or such use FEDEX, UPS or DHL . If you are shipping a bunch of stuff use a balikbayan box, those you can fill with whatever and they ship for $100 or less, of course they take about a month or so, but no "blackmail" to get the box.

I always use DHL and works great. My Filipino recommends DHL too to me. Usually takes 3 days, no more than 4, from the US East Coast to delivery in Manila.

Both Fedex and DHL use local contractors. If you have LBC in your area, there are probably the most reliable, as they are the only company that maintains custody of your shipment until it is delivered to the recipient, door to door.

DHL has its closest office 4 hours away by car from my town but there are several small businesses in my town that serve DHL here where I bring my packages for DHL shipment. DHL then sends a pick up car each day to my town, 8 hours round trip, and picks up all DHL letters and packages from the small businesses that have contracts with DHL. DHL in turn collaborats with LBC in Philippines for Phil delivery. Coming this way, it works the opposite, it ships with LBC from Phil then DHL delivers here by driving 4 hours before making the pick-ups at the local businesses then driving 4 hours back to their DHL office.

You always have the option of using US Postal Service GXG Express with a money back guatantee. They actually turn it over to Fed Ex once it gets to the Philippines. I haven't tried it to the Philippines, but it worked well to Russia when I used it. We have been using LBC/DHL and it takes about 5 days. I haven't had to send anything yet, just receive. It really matter how fast you need it.

We have not had any problems with USPS. Though we do have to pay a tax for the package once we receive it. But it never takes loner then 2-3 weeks. Sorry it's taking loner for you.

For documents, I never had a problem sending stuff to Manila via regular airmail. I always put "Documents Only - Contains No Money" in big block letters on both sides. Worked for me, never had to pay a tax, and usually arrived within ten days. Of course, your spouse/fiancee needs to make sure to "tip" the mail carrier at least once a year at Christmas, or at least offer him something to eat when an important package arrives.

We never had a problem with USPS express and the packages never converted to FEDEX or DHL along they way. I provided the family with tracking number, then as soon as the packages got to the local post office they would go pick up and pay a 20 pesos fee. Typically took 4-5 days post office to post office. Ofcourse the holiday season might experience delays.

Critical documents? Use DHL. They are the gold standard in international shipping. Costs a little more than FedEx, but do you really want to endanger critical documents your fiance needs for her interview to save $20? Of course not.

Something less critical? Fed Ex is OK.

i never had problem with fedex but i used dhl before... like fedex better

I was very surprised, my Fiance used LBC to ship just some papers to me, it arrived here in north carolina in maybe 5 days. It also looks like LBC contracted with DHL once it got in the states because it had a DHL label on it.
