My fiance's visa was probably approved this week, the interviewer said "Everything's fine". And she has already completed the CFO seminar so now it looks like time to get things in order for moving to the US. Thank God and thank you all on this website.

She is wondering what she should bring to the US. She has one more copy of the birth certificate but no more CENOMAR or NBI certificate.

I think she needs a few more copies of the birth certificate and maybe the vaccine records.

BTW, how does she get the vaccine record. Will St. Lukes give it to her after she has the visa?

She is also bringing her child on K2 and has the child's birth certificate.

Is there a post some where that details what to bring to USA? I didn't find it yet.

Thanks again!

She should have left St Lukes with the DS 3025, the vaccine record. You want that.

She also wants the birth certificate as she needs that to file the report of marriage with the Philippine consulate. No major tragedy if she does not have it since ordering one online is easy and fast, but it does cost a few bucks. So if she has one already you avoid that expense.

Definitely pack the sealed envelope in her carry on because she will have to produce that at the airport before she claims her checked luggage.

What not to bring? Most food is not allowed, but there are exceptions, like tea or coffee that is in the original sealed wrapper. Meats and fish are definitely on the X list and will be confiscated.

Also most electrically operated stuff is no good because of the voltage difference. Portable devices with a universal voltage charger should be OK. My wife uses her I-phone from Phil since the universal charger works on American electricity fine. And even if it is not universal voltage, if she has somethng like a laptop that is still in decent shape and worth buying a new charger for once she is here, consider that as well.

Bring as much clothing as she can carry since replacement of that clothing here would cost a fortune.

I don't think St. Lukes gave her the vaccine record. I will check with her tonight. Good point about the laptop. I will suggest she leave it with her sister.

Documents needed are minimal: Copy of birth certificate for both, the DS-3025 for both - this was given to your fiancee at St.Luke's upon completion of the medical, along with the CD (which isn't needed) .

Anything else is of personal choice.

Most laptop chargers work on dual voltage just fine. When I was in Phil, I plugged my charger into 220 and it worked just fine. My wife left hers behind simply because her family needed it and she does not need it here. I have a desktop and a laptop, and that is enough for both of us, whereas her family would have been left with zero had she taken hers.

First im hearing about a seminar. What is that? I just began the process and we filed our K1 yesterday. Soninhave time to figure it out I guess.

First you need to get Hank's handy dandy K1 visa guide. It's free and can be located here http://visaconnection-philippines.com/#

Start with the NVC to USEM tab. Follow the directions and you will fly right through. If you have questions return here and they will be answered but start your own thread and not hi-jack some else's.

Some great responses here

>>Copy of birth certificate for both, the DS-3025 for both

I checked, she did get them.

>>SF? Bring an umbrella and a jacket.

lol, so true, we have had a lot of rain and more on the way.

I will ask her to leave behind as much as possible because then she has less to carry.

>>First im hearing about a seminar. What is that?

>> Sorry. My fault

no worries, but like others have said, Hank's website is a big help.

BTW, make sure everyone has a passport.

Thanks!
