USCIS send or post notification of sending file to NVC? (split topic)

Hi there,

we just got our NOA2 yesterday, after 8 months of waiting for USCIS. I was just wondering - does USCIS post the date when they send the case to NVC, or how do you guys know when it was sent to NVC and when it arrived there? Is it all because you called and asked or is there some kind of notification?

Hi! Sometimes you get the USCIS update saying "we shipped your case to NVC", sometimes you don't. If you were approved from NSC the status update could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks (and, again, sometimes it never comes - mine never did).

What people do to find out is they call NVC (603-334-0700) about 1-2 weeks after NOA2 and ask if they received the case. There's no notification for that, you only find out by calling. The first thing they'll tell you is that the case is "in the building" but not "entered into the system yet" - so no case number, but at least you know they have it. They're quoting 42 days right now from the date they receive the case to when they generate a case number (but it usually takes less time).

When you have a case number you can give NVC your email addresses over the phone. Next update after NOA2 is an NVC "welcome email" that has the case number, IIN and the AOS invoice. Good luck!

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Thank you! Sorry for screwing up the previous thread, just getting used to this.

No place to put this in a timeline but I did get a notice that my file was sent to the NVC today. So will keep my fingers crossed!
