I am having ZERO luck getting thru to the infamous NVC. Actually, the very first time I called....wait for it...I got thru! I pressed "1" and then received a long message in English then in Spanish that didn't apply to K1's anyway. So I hung up...and haven't gotten thru once since.

What happens if I just wait and don't call them? When/How will I get my fiancé's MLS#?

I got thru and was on hold and they hung up on me! After calling literally 103x. Now all i get is the we're closed recording. It looks like their AVR system is down too since we can't even check it that way either.

Sorry to hear that, steftlin. And to think I've "only" called about two dozen times over the past two days; far less than you.

Unfortunately for me I've no long distance service, so I'm charged by the minute. Considering all the other expenses related to the K1, it's obviously NBD, but just adds to the frustration.

For fellow December filers who finally got thru, it would be interesting to know how many times it took them.

Best wishes going forward, steftlin. I've heard Malaysia's a lovely country.

My fiancé called at 4am on the dot PST on two different occasions, and was on hold for approx 45mins each. Maybe try and call this early or just before they close. Not sure if this helps, but I assume it's better that calling mid morning or midday! Received packet 3 today via email and got our interview date - 31st march. I'm planning to book a ticket 2 weeks after.. I'm supposing this is sufficient time?!

Thanks for suggestion, Ezz.

Brien, wow, based on your timeline (forgive my lack of one; tried twice but it didn't work for either time), our MLS# should be ready as well. Wow. My fiancé and I never dreamed things could move this quickly...

Sounds like, if I want it, I'd better just keep calling...

You can use gmail's phone service if you would like to call for free.

As for how many times to get through, it took me 24 times yesterday and 4 times today. Both times I was on hold for about 40 minutes before speaking to someone.

Thanks, surf. So it's definitely doable.

I'm curious why you needed to call twice (NO need to answer that, of course)? I hope once I get thru I'll be done with NVC from then on forever ;)

Have a terrific Friday!

I just had to redial 3 times before getting through. After the long initial spiel, press 2 for english. Don't press 1 - as it's another long spiel about waiting 35 days before calling. I'm now on hold. At least the music has changed...

EDIT: spoke too soon.

No worries :) I called twice because the first time NVC had told me that my case was received but a number hadn't been assigned yet. So I called back the following day to get a case number for tracking on the CEAC site.

Also, I mentioned it before but for those calling the NVC.. getting an auto redial app for your phone helps a TON. I don't know that I would have had the patience otherwise.

Happy Friday all.

I've got my fingers crossed for ya Chris. The worst part of sitting on hold is that every time the music stops... I think I'm about to talk to someone. Nope! Just another recording to tell me the operators are busy. Gets me every time.

Definitely. I got so used to the pause in music that when the guy finally picked up, I didn't even know what to say!

They don't have my case yet, but he said to give a call back in mid-February. Guess I'll continue stalking the forums until someone with a closer approval date to mine. Boo! Oh well, at least I was only on hold for about 35 minutes, though!
