Should I have an attorney review my application??

Hi all,

I am almost done with my package for submission for K1 application. I am a little nervous, about having the proper information. My question is, should I have my application reviewed by an attorney? if so, how much could I expect to pay for this service?

Or is there a way to have someone review my paperwork, before sending it in? I rather avoid a mistake that would hurt my chances of getting approved.

Thanks for any suggestions or info beforehand.

If you can afford it, it definitely wouldn't hurt. Sometimes immigration attorneys think of things we don't even realize. But you can start by listing here what you have included in your package. The community here has been incredibly helpful and all together I am sure we can give you a comprehensive list for you to check off.

Look at this guide, I think this will help. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Thank you Dohan, I am following the guide lines in the link you provided. However I have some doubts, especially regarding the kind of photos I have chosen and also about question 34.a

1) I have chosen the majority of the photos where only she and I appear in the pictures, out of 20 only two are with other people.

2) Not sure how detailed the answer of queston 34a should be and what I should include, I don't really have any receipts as far as hotels, or itinerary I don't have anything along those lines, because we use my or her family's house.

3) Her house address does not have a number only a street, will this be a problem?

Thanks again.

If your case is not complicated and you follow the guides on this website you should save yourself time and money. It is a simple and easy process. Even lawyers sometimes don't know it all when pretending they do. Like the post above says, this site is very helpful, if you have any doubts, ask.

If my memory serves me right 34a is the one where you explain how you met. Everyone tackles this one differently but I have taken the advice of others and frontloaded my application as much as possible. So we wrote a one page story, explaining where and how we met, how we became friends and started dating eventually, the first date, the decision to date long distance, both of my trips to visit him, his proposal, then how he met my family in USA and our visit to his family in USA. (I'm the US citizen petitioner and he is from India but has family in US as well) and we both signed that statement.

As far as the photos go, I think I had maybe 4 or 5 with other people and the rest just us two. Honestly I was just picking the ones where everyone looked nice, where we looked happy, laughing, with his family. Also make sure you label the back of each photo and say where it was taken, at least Month and Year if your don't remember actual date, and who is on the photo, so names and who they are, friends, relatives, etc.

As for her house number, I think that should be fine, after all every country has a different way to write mailing addresses, it is what it is.

If you want someone to double check that you have everything, no need to pay for a lawyer to check it. Many people here can help you.

First of all, what country is your fiancé from?

1. Your selection of photos should be fine. Most of my photos submitted were just of me and my wife, and only a couple were with friends and family.

2. Question 34A does not need to be very detailed. A simple one page explanation of how you met and/or a brief timeline of your relationship.

3. If her address does not have a house number, then that is just fine.
