Steps after the marriage

Hello everyone. I would like to know what are our next steps after the marriage (K-1 visa) ? When do we have to apply for the green card and stuffs? Thanks.

There isn't a deadline but the K-1 visa holder will begin to accumulate unlawful presence when their I-94 expires. So it's advisable to apply for AOS as soon as possible after you get married. If you file the EAD and AP at the same time as AOS, the fees for those two applications are waived.

For women who are changing their name, I'd also advise getting an SSN (if they don't have one already) before marriage so that the name can be found in the relevant systems. Then go back to the SSA office to change the name associated with the SSN when the EAD has been received. Bring a copy of the marriage certificate.
