Lost my copies of 8843 Forms!

Hello all,

This is my first post, so I apologize if it's in the wrong place. I am a recent graduate, currently on OPT. My USC fiancé and I taking our first few baby steps on the long road to my US residency.

I recently discovered, to my absolute horror, that I lost my copies of my 8843 Forms for 2012 and 2013. I dutifully mailed them before the deadline. Since I did not earn any income, that was the only form I needed to file. Now, apparently, it is extremely difficult for the IRS to retrieve copies of these forms, since they are not affiliated with an actual tax return. (I'm still going to try anyway.)

I'm sick with worry because, as I understand it, this form is an important component of our application. I feel especially foolish because I definitely sent them on time, but I lost my own copies.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
