Can a Filipino get a Chinese Visa with combo card / AP?

I am a Filipino Citizen, waiting for my Green Card here in the USA. I came 6 months ago on K1 and am now married. I have my EAD/AP combo card. Can I get a visa for China with my combo card, before I get my GC? When I tried to get a visa to China while living in Manila, they basically told me to get lost. Will I have a better shot at it here, applying in the USA with at least some legal status here? I understand that I'd just send my docs and passport to the Houston Embassy.

Thanks!

the combo card does not allow you to travel to travel to countries that do not allow Philippine citizens entry.

She's asking if she can use her work permit to apply for a Chinese tourist visa at her local consulate here in the U.S.

To answer the question, I'm not sure. Many countries require you to be a resident of the foreign country you're trying to get the visa in if you don't live in your native country. I once got a tourist visa to a third country when traveling as a tourist and my wife recently got a tourist visa to another country while here in the U.S. using her work permit. You could try calling ahead and see what they say.

I can read, and, once again, a Philippine citizen,as she was told IN the Philippines, has practically no chance of receiving a tourist visa to China (research the requirements if you so choose)and having a combo card issued by the U.S. govt has no bearing on a tourist visa application.

I have a few friends who are Filipino citizens and have received tourist visas to China, but all suspected that this was because they were greencard holders, as they were also denied Visas when applying in the Philippines. So I'm still waiting around for my Greencard, and was wondering if the Chinese embassy looks at my EAD/AP like a greencard, or if it's more of the same cold shoulder treatment I got in Makati.

Thank you for the suggestion, JXN. I'll contact them to get their impression before surrendering my passport for a week!

You are quite wrong. I'm a Philippines citizen and I had no problems getting a tourist visa to China multiple times within the past 10 years (way before I got a U.S. Green Card or EAD/AP). I was not required to present proof of income (bank statements, pay slips) nor assets. I just filled out a 2-page application form that asked for basic biographical information, purpose of the trip, contact person and address in China, passport photo, visa fee and valid passport.

It might have helped that I had many travel stamps on my passport as proof of my ability to travel.
