Man found shot at Dallas gas station suspected in robbery

Dallas police believe the man found shot at a gas station Wednesday night was involved in a robbery.

Saeid Ardestani, 56, was found lying on the ground at the Valero gas station on Webb Chapel Road and Larga Drive around 6:15 p.m. He died at the hospital from a gunshot wound.

One witness told FOX 4 he saw the man walking with a woman toward the pump. He was holding his chest and then fell to the ground.

The woman who had been walking with him apparently bent down, shook him and then took off, the witness said.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video and confirmed an unknown male and female brought Ardestani to the gas station.

The three are suspected of robbing someone at a nearby apartment complex.

The robbery victim told police two armed men came into his apartment and demanded money. He feared for his life so he shot one of the suspects. He identified Ardestani in a photo lineup.

Dallas police believe the man killed Ardestani in self-defense while his home was being robbed. They will refer the case to a grand jury.

The man and woman who left Ardestani at the gas station are still at large.
