Total Fees Required for Completing CR-1

Greetings to all my fellow Canucksters that are in the chaotic world of immigrating to the USA, or have survived the journey.

I'm trying to do a budget for expenses, etc, and, wondering what all the fees total up to for all the processing of forms including the medical.

Thank you to anyone who can help me out

420 - initial i-130 form
325 - Immigrant Visa fee (pay before able to submit IV documents/ ds260)
120 - Affidavit of Support Fee
300 - Medical

Things to consider:

Hotel room costs either in Montreal or if you need to travel far for your medical, etc.

Flights/Transportation to Montreal for the interview, or medical, etc.

Passport photos. The whole process takes like 8 photos. 1 set for the i130, 4 for medical, 2 for interview

$1165 + random expenses
= ~$1500 or more

Ah darn, I missed that one. I was thinking of it but forgot to write it out! Yep..lots and lots of fees...

Since you're from Saskatchewan you might have better luck lumping your medical and interview together in Montreal, save a bit of money there!

survived the process - we also express mailed all info from the US so there were no delays and full tracking...totalled out about $50

the "good thing" is that the fees are spread out across an excrutiatingly long time so you do not have to pay at once...<- that was an attempt at humor.

...it's rather unpleasant realizing it's all those fees times three for us (myself, and my two daughters) The only fee that we save on is the AOS which is only paid once for all three of us (if I understand it correctly) and that's the cheapest one (oh and the medicals are $150 for the kids)

Thank goodness they're spread out!!!
