Hello,

Today we received the letter from the embassy in New Delhi for the K1 visa but it has me confused. I thought the K1 Fiance visa required the DS160 but the letter asks for the DS260. It also wants packet 4 and the letter has reference to an immigrant visa while the k1 is of course a non-immigrant.

Should I be concerned? Should I contact them to correct anything or is this just the standard letter for anyone?

Your immigrant visa case is now ready for final processing. Please carefully follow the interview preparation steps below.

Step 1: Obtain your Police Clearance Certificate from the Regional Passport Office.

Step 2: Complete your medical examination with an approved panel physician from the list available at http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/medical_report.html. Do not appear for the interview if you do not have a completed medical clearance.

Step 3: Complete Form DS-260 online at https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/and print the confirmation page to bring to your interview. Please do this for any derivative spouse and children who will be applying for a visa. If your petition did not go through the NVC process (for example, you filed your petition overseas), your invoice ID number will be the principal applicant’s date of birth (Format: DD-MMM-YYYY).

Step 4: Go to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in. Create a user account and select your passport/visa pick-up location.

Step 5: Only after completing Steps 1 to 4, log in to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/into schedule two appointments:
One appointment for biometric fingerprint and photo collection at the Visa Application Center (VAC) and
One appointment at the Embassy.

Please refer to http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/ivdocforms.htmlfor Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants (Packet-4)

thanks,

Brian

we had the same instructions with our packet 3. However, upon inquiry, they said that it was a printing mistake and it should be DS-160. What you should do is call and email them (the embassy) and ask them the same question. It never hurts to ask them about things you are confused about.

Hope this helps.

It looks like you received the wrong instructions. Here is a link with the real instructions:

Ok, now I'm very confused. The New Delhi embassy website says to complete the DS-160 for the K1 visa, everything I have read says to complete the DS-160, but my letter from the embassy says to complete the DS-260 and when I called the number at the bottom of the letter and spoke to a representative I was told to complete the DS-260.

Can anyone help? I'm getting frustrated now.

Thanks

The DS260 is for immigrant visas, not for K visas. Follow the instructions on the website. The letter that you received is incorrect.

Ok, thanks. That's what I thought but I got a little worried when I called the number and they said the 260. Of course, these are probably the same people that put the letter together so it makes sense.....
