Hi all,

My mother's visa was approved last Thursday Oct 16 2014.

Just checked the website and visa has been printed, but mom not notified yet. Guess she will get the call from embassy this coming Monday.

I'll update the timeline once all is done.

Thanks again for all.

Good luck to any of you who're still in the process; May God Bless You!

According to the OP, she hasn't received the visa yet. The fee to be paid after the visa is issued is the $165 USCIS immigrant fee, that would apply to your parents as well if they are entering with immigrant visas.

This does not constitute legal advice.

It's best if the fee is paid before POE, but you can pay it after if you are unable to pay it before POE. Her GC won't be processed until this fee is paid. She does need the visa in hand as well in order to do the payment.

I want to ask some questions, if you don't mind. How did you come to the U.S. and how long before your mom was approved? My husband and I would like to get his mom here but not sure how this all works

Of course you can, that's also the only way, I believe. Remember that your mom needs the visa in hand in order to pay the fee, here is the link:

Can I pay online?

Hi Nursejennyc,

Again as Ian stated, my mom has not been called yet so she does not have the visa in hand at this moment, therefore can't pay for the fee. I guess to pay for the fee, they may request some sort of information that are probably only on the issued visa.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I really thought that by yesterday (Monday 10/20/14) she would have been called. Since Friday, it's clearly stated on ceac.state.gov that the visa was printed, and then my mom would be called to pick up her visa any time according to the local consulate procedure; but so far no call, and that makes me a little bit anxious, lol.

I will keep you guys posted as soon as she is all set. That way I will answer to all the questions at once about her interview experience in Ivory Coast and anything else.

Good luck again to all of those whose relatives are still in the process. Sorry also for the delay after the first post, busy at work.

Karam and Jamie,

I had my green card on the asylum ground. I became US citizen in 2011 and file for my mom in May 2013 with USCIS. She was approved with USCIS in December 2013. I sent the last immigration visa package on 7/11/14. NVC received it on the 15 and wrote me on 7/30/14 to let me know that they received every thing and that I should give them about 60 days counting from 7/15/14. About 60 days later (9/11/14), they set the interview for 10/16/14.

Hope that helps!
