Current case status question

So my i-130 was approved and I'm waiting on word about my i-485. They just cashed the check so i know they looked at the file. Will I get any more updates online as I did with my i-130 or do u just have to wait for updates in the mail? About how long does it take for the next step after they receive the i-485?

Did you send them together? I'm sure the I-130 gets approved at the same time as the I-485, unless you sent them separately. In any case the I-485 varies greatly because it depends what office you get and how busy they are, some are very busy and take over a year to approve AOS, others get approval in as little as a couple of months. Where is your local office?

I see, but you should have sent them together that way they would have been approved at the same time. You are allowed to file the I-130 together with the I-485. Did you submit a copy of the NOA1 for the I-130 with the I-485 package?

well there's the I-485 - so that's 1 receipt notice, for certain,

then if you submitted

I-131 plus

I-765 together

with the I-485,

that'd be 2 more receipt notices.,

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I couldn't afford to send them in at once. I did submit the NOA1 for the i-130 with the i-485. I guess the receipt number that I was able to use to look up the progress won't work on the i-485? Edited by 10pmStalker

Ok, that's fine. I just wanted to make sure that you included the NOA1 in the AOS package. Did you submit the G1145 up for text/email? It could take about a week after they receive the package to send you the notification, then about another week to receive the hard copy NOA1.

In order to know the processing status you need to know where your local USCIS office is. It's usually in the same city if it's a big one like NYC, or a big city in the immediate area. In any case, you should receive biometrics appointment after a couple of weeks.

exactly right, as

the I-130

and

I-485

are

different things,

and as such,

USCIS

not link them.
