Just thought I would give everyone an update. Just got off the phone with NVC to see if I had a case number assigned yet after my approval notice and they are saying it takes 42 days after NVC receives your USCIS information (I-130) to assign a case number.

Frustrating...

It can take them that long, but usually they will assign it much sooner. Just keep harassing them every few days.

This does not constitute legal advice.

Hi there,

I just got off the phone with NVC and was told that my case # would also not be assigned for 42 days. It was received on Dec 23rd. I see you had a similar question and your case was assigned sooner - did you keep on calling them as suggested?

Best

Someone that was received Dec 1st got their case # today so they are running quite long at the moment! I am waiting for mine as well and hoping they speed up. It's up to you how often you want to call but once it gets closer to 28-30 days (average waiting time) I'd call more often.

Good luck and congrats on getting through USCIS! :)

Ours was received dec 23 too.

I hope it will be soon. I will follow your timeline....

I get bored so I figured I'd update. They received the package on 23rd, still no case #. Still quoting the 42 calendar days, and still REALLY hard to get a hold of a person there. I have spent hours this week.

And I know that it might still be more time :) but now that I CAN do something, by gosh I will DO it!

I have already started gathering all documents for the iv package. Atleast that would get me pre-occupied.

Goodluck to us. I am hoping I get to see y husband first half of the year.

Still nothing for me - they keep on saying 42 days, and he said that it might be sooner, but they are giving themselves that much time as it's busy. I must say that they have always been very nice and polite, even though I am not hearing the answer I want;)
