hi

you didn't send them? that's to prove that you are siblings, you need to send copies of the original birth certificates and if they aren't in English, a translation of the certificates into English

hi

incorrect, for the i130 you need them translated. it's at the NVC stage that you only send the original birth certificates. but for the I130 they need to be translated into English

That's most likely the reason why you received the RFE, because you did not translate them.

I currently have a friend who is from DR and in the same process as you, she had every single document translated to English. Better to be safe then sorry so to speak!

Hi,

For the I-130, I agree with a previous poster, you NEED the translation. It has to be a full translation and the translator has to certify that he/she is competent in both english and spanish and that the translation is accurate and complete. If you cannot do it yourself most agencias do it for $20 to $25 each. Also, you don't need the original translation, you can just send a copy.

For the NVC stage, you don't need the translation, but you do need to send the originals and a copy. That won't be for a very long time though because siblings are taking 10+ years.

Also, just to note, I know plenty of Dominicans with mistakes on their BC's so you want to make sure that every name is perfectly spelled since a sibling relationship has to be proved based on at least one common parent. I know people who have the same parents and their parents names are different on the BC's, not spelled different, but different names. All I know is that it's a mess to try to get fixed when it's too late. Good luck.
