I tried the search but the post seemed old as in 2006 so I am asking now in 2014. :)

Useful info: We are in the process of getting our K-1 fiance visa, thinking the I-129F will be approved soon, then off to NVC and Guangzhou.

Does anyone have any recommendations for shipping from the US to China, (Henan Province)? I plan to ship the following things:

A. Copies of all the documents from the I-129F, RFE stuff and things she will need between now and the interview.

From reading old threads it seems people favored USPS Global Priority.

B. Prenatal vitamins. I read on the China shipping restrictions that there is a limit of 40 RMB for medicine. Now I don't know if they mean "medicine" as in a prescription and over the counter or if they also include herbal supplements and vitamins in that hard limit. One bottle of prenatal vitamins will go over 40 RMB easily.

Any advice is much appreciated. :thumbs:

I sent a mother's day card for my fiancee's mother via regular USPS, and it didn't arrive until over 2 months later after we had given up on it. Because of this poor experience with USPS, later, I sent all my immigration document to her via FedEx and it arrived in few days.

USPS Global Express ties into third party carriers such as FedEx or DHL within China. These carriers deliver to the larger cities.

USPS Priority Mail International or Priority Mail Express International tie into the EMS Consortium in China. China EMS offers delivery to any address in China, and offers door-to-door (US to China door) tracking through their tracking web site (use the China EMS site http://www.ems.com.cn/english.html once it's been handed off to China Post).

In 2013 I had mailed her some love letters vis USPS registered mail which took the expected 2 weeks to deliver and a little pricey, but otherwise no trouble. I won't send something so big as a stack of papers and pictures though. I guess they could advise me about what I can ship there.

which big city are you near? I ask, because most BIG CITIES have chinese shipping shops that consolidate stuff into DHL shipping bags about 3 ft across and 4 ft high.

You should make a trip sometime soonish, noting most are open on Saturdays... and closed on Sundays.

We've shipped all kinds of stuff over in small boxes that fix into these shipping bags, without any duty-stuff related , all got through.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
