I'm freaking out a little. My fiance gets the results of the smear test tomorrow and Im concerned about a positive result. If it is positive she has no where to stay in manila. She is from Bacolod. I don't know how to go about finding a room or apartment I can afford.

Any of you that were in this situation , how did you resolve it? Are there inexpensive apartments near St Lukes that are safe?

Thanks

I am in my 3rd week now of waiting the culture test result. Hoping for negative result, fingers crossed. I talked to some people who have their treatment there and asked how much is the montly budget. One guy said 10k per month (3k for lodging near the clinic and 7k for food) but he said this is really on a tight budget. Some girls also shared room with each other and also 3k per person. One girl rented an apartment for 14k. Manila has high cost of living. Sometimes I get worried of me the possibility of having 6 months treatment. Meaning I have to resign from work and I have no more income. :(

AOS Journey:

March 30 - AOS/EAD/AP sent

April 2 - USCIS received

April 9 - NOA1

May 6 - Biometrics

May 7 - Case is ready for interview

May 21 - Request for EAD expedite

May 26 - contact congressman for EAD expedite

June 1 - EAD card in production

June 2 - EAD approved

June 6 - EAD/AP combo card received

you can actually use booking.com to check for cheap hotels near manila area, ive seen one 1 star hotel which is like $25/night :) or if your fiance really need to stay longer, an apartment near manila area is a bit expensive and she needs to pay 1 month advance and 1 month deposit for the apartment rent. or she can try bed spacing but mostly its lke 3-4 persons/ room and it costs 3k-4k/ month depending on the location. hope this helps you a bit.

A hotel would be too much , even a cheap hotel plus food , when we are talking about 6 months. This is making me crazy.

Hopefully I'm ahead of myself. We'll know tomorrow

I am betting you will be negative being you are at the end of the 60 days and no positive culture, SLEC will call early if it is positive so the best call is no call.

My bet is on what Hank said.

I read an article that sheds some light on the housing situation. http://www.pbsp.org.ph/globalfund/?p=536 Concern half way houses. Don't know if there is one near SLEC but worth a look.
