Hey everyone!!
Thanks for being so helpful so far..

My fiance got word that the Visa had been accepted. Shortly after he got an NOA i797 saying that it is basically valid until Jan 18 and that we can contact them from question/concerns.

However, when we try contacting them we are either disconnected after "Press 1/2/3/4" for whatever queue or we're told that they dont respond to general inquiries. Also they mention not to contact them for general reasons via email as well.
Im from Canada and my fiance is sponsoring me from USA.

Now , why on earth would this document expire? Does this mean I could still be here in Montreal for another 4 months or more?
What do I do? Wait for someone to contact me? I haven't received anything yet on my end...only my fiance has.

A little worried that we're sitting here..and NOT supposed to be waiting.

Thanks <3

The NOA 2 would have been for the petition not for the Visa. You have to complete visa processing before the Jan 18 date. You still have interviews and such that need to be done for the Visa. Please fill in your time line so that others have the info needed to better answer your questions. I may be off on my answer due to not having enough info.

Hey everyone!!

Thanks for being so helpful so far..

You just filed than right? There is nothing to do but wait now. Yes you could very well be waiting 4 months or longer just to be approved at USCIS. Maybe sooner no one can tell.

There is nothing coming your way from USCIS unless there was an error or a request for evidence (RFE) but that will go to the petitioner.

Once you are approved your petition moves to NVC for a case# and then off it goes to the embassy. You could be reading in the Canadian forum what you need to prepare once its at embassy and just getting ready for that.

But there's nothing USCIS can tell you now since you just filed. Oh also be sure to go to the uscis.gov website and register your receipt# for text and emails. That is how they first notify you going forward than they send hardcopy mail to you.

I-129f, once approved, is valid for 4 months but its validity can be extended by the embassy and normally is extended by default if you don't manage to get all your documents ready within those 4 months. Nothing to worry about regarding the expiration, it can be and is extended 4 months at a time, up to one year. All you need to do is contact the embassy and ask for extension (they will do it anyway, but just to make sure) if you can't get everything completed within those 4 months.

No i haven't just filed...we filed in April and he got an approval message. then about a few days later the NOA came in the mail.

We that changes the whole conversation. Since you have no timeline filled out no country we have no clue. You said NOA you didn't say we were approved. Anyway.

You need to be calling NVC and get your case# and follow your embassies instructions on forms you need and getting your I-134 together alot to do.

Go to your countries portal here on VJ and there should be information for you and the doctors to go to for your medical. So yes there's plenty you could be doing now.

:time:

and put up your countries flag. ill help others help you.
