Hi everyone,

I am under F1 visa now but I got married to a US citizen last December. We hired a legal assistant to help us with the filing. He was a family friend and has been assisting my friends and relatives for over ten years.

He prepared everything for us, all we had to do was sign it. He told us that he filed it last May and up until now, we have not received anything from USCIS.

I have no idea whatsoever on what was going on and I was guilty to be very trusting and naive. We paid him in cash. I deserve to be called stupid I know.

He assured us repeatedly that the changes in the Lockbox are causing delays right now among the other excuses that he gave.

I called USCIS yesterday only to find out that No petition was filed under my name nor my husband's.

I have a couple of questions just to clear my head.

>I am only a month away from my OPT/EAD application. Should I push through with it or wait til I file I-130, I-485 or I-765?

> Is any route faster than the other? (Through OPT or through AOS?)

> Which will help my case better?

I am deeply heartbroken and I do not know what to do next. Looking forward to hear responses from you.

If he filed concurrently, you will receive receipts and biometrics appointment.

If he filed I-130 only, it would take up to 6months to get approval. Your spouse still receives a receipt.

If he can't provide any proofs he filed documents, chance is he never filed anything. Contact your local police about this scam.
