Marriage certicifate...official copy or just copy?

Before submitting all of the paperwork, I have a question about marriage certificate.

Do I submit the official copy ($2 a piece) I got from the court house or I can just use the copies of them?

Which one should I use?

A copy will suffice, however at $2 a piece, I would send an official copy so it's not requested for. Ours were $18 each.

I would definitely send in the certified copy you receive from the court house, not a photocopy.

I got a few when we went to the court house, just in case I needed them for anything else.

A certified copy (the one with a raised seal) is what we sent, and I do believe it asks for that if I remember correctly. Ours was $5.

Two dollars, Damn! Ours cost ten bucks a peice. We submitted the official one from the county recorder's office.

Technically it just says copy of your marriage certificate on the I485 so a xerox should be ok and I've heard of other people only sending that. I just personally prefer to send official copies when I can because it makes me feel better that I know it's legible, etc, and just in case that's what they wanted and I didn't read something right.

We just sent a copy. That's all they asked for and it takes 8 weeks to get an original since we got married in Ontario.

We send a copy. What I find a bit weird is that the officer did not ask for the original during our interview! She might have noticed that we had it, though.
