Hi Vj Family

I have got the PCC from abroad translated into English with official seal. Do i need to get it notarized too? It is looking almost impossible to get it Notarized . Any one who submitted foreign PCC had any trouble due to it not being Notarized? .

You should check with your embassy whether the certificate should be notarized or not. It depends. Requirements in local embassies differ.

At least in the United States, if a document has already been signed then it CAN'T be notarized. There would be no point. Perhaps your country has a different definition of the word?

If it already translated to English and has an official seal, I highly doubt that you need to get it notarized,

but it's best to double check with your embassy requirements as they can vary in such minor details.

It would help other VJ'ers greatly to know what country you're filing in. Every consulate is different, and those who have been through the process for your country would be the best to advise.

Otherwise we'll just tell you to check with the consulate/embassy.

From what I've seen a translation is only needed if the document is not in English, or the native language of the country you're in. (E.g. your fiance lives in Russia, but worked in France for 3 years and has documents in French, he/she would need to translate the french documents). In the case of the documents being french, they would need to be translated by a service, and that translation would need to be notarized, and you would need the original and the translated versions provided.

I was talking with regards to the Police Clearance Certificate issued and translated from Chinese-English . It was translated in the government office itself and has the official seal .

However getting it Notarized seems to be almost impossible. My Interview is next week . I am aware that you should only submit translated documents to the Embassy

The Embassy website mentions that a PCC is mandatory , however it doesn't mention if it needs to be notarized.What do you guys think I should do?

There should be a paper available which you can sign, certifying that the translation is true (if I recall correctly) if this is still applicable you can sign it, and have it notarized - most banks have a notary. I would recommend Googling for it.

If you have the receipt or an email from the service which translated your document I would provide a copy of that as well.

Keep in mind this is very generic information, my consulate was Argentina, and the only documents we had were in Spanish and English, we did not have to translate information -- each consulate is different in what it accepts. Your best bet is to email or call them and ask directly, if they need a certified translation, they will likely just give you a 221g, and tell you to provide the certified translated copy.

Oh, it is a translated copy issued by a Government office itself . This office issues the PCC as well as translates it into English . But I am confused whether I need to pursue getting the translated copy Notarized.
