Hello, first time posting at this form.

I am traveling to South Korea next month (one month left) and I just found out that I lost my green card.

I am going to file a I-90 to get a replacement card but that will take more than a month.

So my only option is to get a I-551 stamp from local office on my passport to get in and out.

Here are my questions regarding the situation:

1. I don't have valid passport right now and it will take at least two weeks to get a new valid one. Since I live in Los Angeles, it is really hard/almost impossible to get an INFOPASS appointment. I luckily got the appointment next week, however, I won't have valid passport next week. I was wondering if I can get the stamp else where (they can maybe provide separate piece of paper or something?) I saw few posts like this one: http://forums.immigration.com/threads/i-551-stamp-without-passport-and-i-94.144805/

2. Can I go to different field office than where I live currently?

3. My Greencard will expire in one year (Oct 2015). I understand that I have to pay $450 dollar to replace it but they said that they will give me a greencard that will have expiration date 10 years after the issue date (which is 2015). I was wondering if I can renew it rather than replace them ( I know that green card must be either expired or expire in 6 months but can I get an exception on situation like this? I'll have to pay another $450 next year for a new green card...)

Thank you for your help in advance :)

If you came and got a 2 year green card they replace it with the same . If you are close to ROC then you may have to file for that . Yes you have to pay for it. You must have a valid passport for the stamp

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
