Do I need a valid Canadian passport any more?

I got my U.S. citizenship and U.S. passport a few years ago and I live in the U.S. My Canadian passport is now expired. Is there any reason to renew my Canadian passport?

If I want to visit Canada, can't I just use my U.S. passport, which has on it "place of birth: Canada"?

I never renewed my Canadian passport, I just use my US passport to enter Canada.

Many don't.....if one is going to do a lot of traveling...depending on where you are going, it could then be beneficial to get a Cdn Passport..ie Cuba...

Thanks Flames9_RN. No plans to go anywhere other than Canada so it seems that the American passport is all I need.

Many people don't bother with it at all. I get mine renewed however, as I travel a lot to Europe and I have enough stamps in my US passport already that I don't want it being filled up with Canadian ones if I don't need to. So this saves me pages if I use my Canadian passport to enter...

Thanks Warlord. I don't do much travelling so I guess I just keeping the U.S. passport up-to-date should be enough.

Later down on the road you wish to get a cdn Passport, you can go that route as well....
