My Fiance just arrived last tuesday, and we are having a little bit of trouble on how to go about getting her a social security number and getting permission to work temporarily. Does anyone have any info or help on how to go about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thank you

Your fiance can't work "temporarily". She has to receive her EAD card first before she has the legal authorization to be employed. The EAD (I-765) has a processing time of 60 - 90 days and is to be applied concurrently with the AOS. Although there is an option to apply now prior to AOS, this will expire when her I-94 expires, and with the processing time of almost 3 months, this route is practically not suitable for K1 visa holders.

For SSN, follow the guides here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn

To get an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), file your AOS application. Refer to the VJ K1/K3 AOS guide for details.
