(CNN) -- A Statesville, North Carolina, infant is dead after being left in a hot car last month, and now his parents are under arrest.

Sherrie Tiesha Clay and Shakee Duquan Robinson were arrested Monday on charges of involuntary manslaughter and felony child abuse, according to a Statesville police statement.

Police say Clay and Robinson returned home July 27 "with the victim and other children (but) did not remove the infant from the vehicle (for) approximately two hours."

The 4-week-old was discovered by his aunt and rushed to the hospital, where he died.

Investigators announced Monday that the newborn -- whose name has not been released -- died of hyperthermia.

Both parents are being held in the Iredell County Jail on $200,000 bond. It was not immediately clear if they have an attorney. Social Services placed the couple's remaining children in temporary custody.

This seems to be happening a lot lately. This happned to a man here in GA recently and they found it, it was planned.

Do you know how easy it would be to make a device that goes on a key ring that starts beeping, if it got more than a set distance from a transmitter attached to a car seat. Someone could make a fortune.

What good would such device do? It could sure help parents that forget their infant or toddler in the car. But the truth is that no parent actually forgets their infant child in the car. They leave them there. Period.

Just sick.

J- Someone on FB asked the opinion, on if someone could really do this by accident. Many seem to think it could happen. However as in the case here. It was proven to be cold blooded murder . Now if a person did it by accident, I can't imagine the hell they would live in

I am not 100% convinced of that. Regardless many parents would buy such a device.

No parent actually forgets their child in the car? What?

Well I was pretty much leaning toward that penny, but after a lot of input in a round table discussion, I was shown some things that convinced me, that may not always be the case

I agree. No freaking parent would do so.

I sick, sicko would.

Um, no.

That's not what I was saying at all.

I was actually surprised that anyone would say that no parent would actually do this, that it's not simply forgetting, that it's LEAVING them behind.

How horrible for the parents this happens to to not only have to grieve their child, but have to deal with attitudes like this.

Okay. I am being a little tooo harsh.

I think there is a very, very, very small minimal of parents who do forget. how, I don't crapping know.

But those who were occupied with dumbness like, cheating, stripe clubs, this is not forgetting, this is giving priority to stupidity.

All it takes is a parent in a stressful situation who is running on autopilot. These parents, the ones who truly simply make a mistake, deserve support and empathy and not to be called sickos or murderers.

I said there is a very, very small percentage who actually do.

Im not talking about the parents who forgot their kids because of the hooker on the corner was calling them, the stripe club, or for their extra martial affairs, all of things that are not important when it comes to your kids.

I agree with one thing. I just don't know

How many times have you driven somewhere on a weekend and gotten halfway to work without thinking?? How many times have we driven to work and not remembered the drive?? A parent who does not normally transport the child may go about their day and then have that "Oh #######!" moment a few hours into work..

Probably does not happen often but with 300 million people mmm.. a few times per year during the summer I can see it as plausible.. But I'd be checking their web searches and personal history for sure...
