Hello everyone.

I entered the United States on a K1 Visa from Ireland at the end of April and married my wife (a US Citizen) in mid-May. We filed for AOS and employment authorization with all documents recommended by the VisaJourney timeline on May 28th and sent them to the Chicago lockbox. I received a NOA for the I-485 and I-765 dated 4th June and completed the biometrics as required on June 25th in Omaha..

However, I have not been able to get any status update on the USCIS website. Our application numbers begin with MSC. i get a message saying that our application cannot be found and to ring the Customer Service number.

Having managed, with difficulty, to get past the menu options and speak to a human the lady I spoke to said she could not find my application.

Obviously my application is in process since I got the biometrics appointment but it is frustrating not to be able to check my case status. Is this normal?

Comments and/or thoughts appreciated!

Phil

Its not normal, but its not unusual either. Some people's cases are never able to be seen on the USCIS web site. What would concern me is they cannot find your case when you call up. I'd try again to get through to someone who actually knows how to use the computer system and look up a case. The incompetence of the customer service line is legendary around here.

I had the same problem with the online case status. All of my cases (AOS, EAD, and AP) showed up in the system as "Case Not Found" during the whole wait. AOS and EAD both switched to "Card Production" on the days they got approved, while my AP is still stuck in "Case Not Found' status, over a year after receiving my combo card.

Try not to worry about it too much - the NBC is notorious for not updating the online status correctly, and since you got your NOA1's and had your biometrics, you are in their system.

PS: As for calling them, you probably talked to one of the clueless Tier 1 reps. They cannot see anything in the system that you cannot see. If you want to be sure, call and insist on talking to a Tier 2.

Thanks Caryh and HK12!

Reassuring to hear that other folks have the same experience. Not that worried about the application itself; just surprised it was not available.

Incidentally when I rang them the automated service asked for my application number and when it could not find it it asked me to check and reenter or go back to the main menu. I ended up calling again and selecting no options for about three minutes until it put me through after being asked if I had a rotary phone!

Anyway wait and see I guess.

The entire customer service line appears designed to make people not call and ask anything. I loath having to call that line, but my wife has had me on it many times just to check  . One step left at this point, and that's her citizenship. I will be so glad to say goodbye to USCIS forever.
