hi everyone

Does bah from gi bill as income?

someone else on internet say it's count and can use for affidavit of support,also my friend help me ask her lawyer and the lawyer said it count too .

but my fiancée called legal office but immigration attorney said no to gi bill used for affadavite of support .

so does any case really use gi bill income and approved ?

please help, thanks

I do not believe this counts from the GI Bill…if you were active duty you could get a paper from DFAS with that included in your income but GI Bill is an educational assistance program and not income whereas if you were on active duty this entitlement is part of your compensation for working and thats why active duty military can use it

The main problem with the GI Bill is that it is a temporary income, and the bulk of the money you receive is used for attending school and paying tuition and not actual income in your pocket. I would not count on the GI Bill amount being accepted for the affidavit of support, but you should contact the consulate where you will interview and ask them directly if the GI Bill or BAH from the GI Bill can be used to meet the income requirement for the I-134. They should be able to give you an answer for dealing with your consulate specifically, since a CO has lots of leeway in what they will accept or not for the financials with a K-1 visa.
