Hello,

I'm wondering anyone experience I-485 birth certificate affidavit?

I was born at home in Vietnam and my parents didn't issue me birth certificate. However, I was immigrated to Canada and became citizenship.

I'm currently married to Puerto Rican (US territory) and applied for I-485. Unfortunately, they are unable to process my application unless I have birth certificate affidavit and secondary evidence.

I tried to email Vietnam embassy in New York and they are not help issue my birth certificate in Vietnam. I email department of justice ( my place of birth ) in vietnam. There were two emails. One didn't get through and other didn't respond back.

Do anyone experience or suggest what do I do to obtain my birth certificate in Vietnam?

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Tai

Hello @DTT

Is there any update on your situation? Was your I485 approved? And what did you have to supply USCIS with? I am in the exact same situation. I'm applying for my I485 and don't have my Vietnam birth certificate because my family fled the country when I was very young. We became Canadian citizens so only have documentation from Canada (nothing from Vietnam). Any response would be very helpful. Thank you!

I doubt they will see this thread as it is six years old.  You will need to have your parents complete the affidavit referred to in the earlier posts.
