Son Filed In June to Remove Conditions and Got a 1 Year Extension

Hi Vjers,

My son got married in 2011 and his paperwork was done in 2012. It took him 9 weeks to be approved which was super quick - June 21 sent off application and August 29th approved through interview! He sent in his removal of conditions the first week of June in this year and he received his I 797 notifying him that they have received his application and have given him a 1 year extension on his conditional residency. He also received a sticker to put on his GC as verification. Also, even though he has a receipt number, it cannot be found on the USCIS website. He will be eligible to file for citizenship next year, so what is this one year extension? Has anyone gone through this before?

1-year Extension is a period he waits for ROC results (RFE/ Approval/ Denial/ Interview) everyone has it after sending in I-751. He can continue to work, travel with expired GC and that letter.

Thank you for responding Miriam&Smith. At this point my son cannot track his case as he did not receive a biometric appointment and, as such, no case number. Again, thank you for responding.

You should call and speak with a tier 2, ask whether his biometrics is current or if he still needs an appointment (he may have not received a notice they sent). You can also ask for the case number to track online.
