I decided to post this in the CR1 forum because there seems to be more activity here than in the NVC forum, but if the moderator decides to move it, that is fine. I want to let you know what happened with me this morning. It was very strange. I call into the NVC automated voice system periodically to see if there are any updates such as a message stating that some information might be missing, etc. I could catch it early and send it back in fast. Actually, I have been very thorough and it it would be extremely unlikely that I would be missing anything. For about two weeks the message has been saying "we have received all your documents and wait 6 to 8 weeks for the review to be completed."

Well guess what? I called this morning and there was a message stating that "My documents had been reviewed and there was missing or incomplete information and a letter had been sent yesterday detailing what was missing." Incredible. I called back and spoke with an operator and she told me that a letter was sent out yesterday, but to ignore it. The letter was sent out in error. It said something about missing the visa application (DS-230) which THEY had already confirmed was received January 4th???? She said they have it now and and to wait 2 to 4 weeks for the review to be complete.

Hopefully, she knows what she is talking about and this confusion won't result in my case being delayed. Who knows. It has been 2 weeks since they "officially received" the DS-230 and 3 weeks since I mailed it in. I have heard about people receiving this "missing information" message after they send in the I-864 and the NVC is still waiting for the DS-230, but I have never heard about anyone getting the message like I did. I am just curious if anyone else has experienced this before or if anyone has any thoughts on this incident. Thanks!

I just got off the phone with "AJ" at the NVC.

Same exact scenario. The automated message said my letter was sent out 1/16, which was yesterday. He told me to ignore the letter because it is just a "reminder" to send in the DS-230, which he acknowledges they've already received on 1/8/2007...

He said "they must have crossed in the mail", which of course is impossible, since they mailed out their letter 8 days after they acknowledge entering the receipt of my DS-230 in their system. They actually received my DS-230 on 1/4 because I mailed in via overnight mail on 1/3.

So let's get this straight... the NVC systematically mails out an automatic letter, approximately 20 days after they mail you the DS-230, to remind you to send in the DS-230, irrespective of whether they have received your DS-230 or not?

Worse than that, they update your personal voicemail message telling you that you AUTOMATICALLY have missing information in your file, which will delay your case...

How inefficient is that?

Can someone say... "Immigration Reform"?

This isn't a matter of throwing more money at the problem to hire more people, this is just a matter of applying an ounce of common sense to the process...

Hey there Florida,

Well that same exact thing happened to me months ago. Don't worry, if they said they have the DS-230 u can ignore the letter in the mail.

I called the NVC and the automated response said the same thing.. that i had missing documents.. it was because I sent the DS-230 late. But I sent it a week late... so they sent me the letter but once i got the letter in the mail stating that i was missing the DS-230 they had already recieved it and it was under review.

So don't worry florida... just keep calling the NVC for future updates on your case!

Rabbit:

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering when you got that message. Did you get yours this late in the process, 3 weeks after you mailed in the DS-230? And did the message go from saying they had received everything (ever since the time they received the DS-230) to the bogus message at this late date? Thanks!

Sorry to hear that!...i'm not a specialist...but nowdays, many issues arrive when using new technologies of differents types: mail, voice-mail telecom...etc...as if people forget to do the followup from 1 media to another type of media...it's more complicated than using only one media of communication...!!!...

Hi Mark,

The message about "information incomplete" happened to me also. Ignore it for a few days, you are almost there. My case has been completed a couple of days ago, so the message didn't mean anything in my case. Good luck.
