Hi All,

I am a bit sad with the outcome of my interview this morning and would like to ask for your inputs/same experience.

I am Philippines but currently residing and working here in Singapore.

I got 221g form and my passport was returned-- Officer wanted a new NBI Clearance. my NBI Clearance is 8 months old, and informed me it needs to be max 6 months old.

I stupidly left out NBI clearance renewal (since normall NBI clearance is 1 year valid). I concentrated on renewing my police clearances instead which they never asked to be presented sheesh...

Just want to ask, after submitting my NBI clearance how long until I get my visa?

And when I submit my NBI Clearance should I include my passport in it already?

I was hoping I could leave SG on first week of July :(

Kindly let me know your experience or inputs?

Thank you so much

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Sorry to hear about the 221g, yes the NBI needs to be less than 6 months for sure, embassy in Manila is picky on that also.

Read the 221g letter you were given, if it states in there to return the passport with the NBI and 221g letter (make a copy for your files) then do so, if it doesn't state to do so then hold on to your passport. At USEM they do not return the passport because of a request for documents, SG handles that differently.

thanks hank for your reply.

how will i know when will i send my passport in? will it take long for this process again?

Once the embassy has the NBI it can take a few weeks more. I would suggest you email the embassy and ask them to get the facts as to when to send the passport.

Is that 10, or "48 years" of waiting? :)

Sorry, just trying to lighten the mood. Hope it all gets settled for you. Best wishes.

I never got an answer to an email from USEM in less than a week. So don't worry about no answer yet. Much too soon.

They are correct about the NBI being too old. Your fastest path to a visa at this point is to do as they ask, and you already started doing it.

Good luck to you.

so here are the details of what happened just incase it might give you some hopes for your paperwork as well :)

i sent my nbi to be renewed in phils on june 18 itself just after my interview lol...my parents got it on the 19th... they got it renewed on the 20th thankfully NBI allowed them to have it same day, so they sent it back to me at once and rcvd it last june 22! thankfully my parents worked on it fast!

due to work constraints i wasnt able to send my nbi to the embassy at once...june 24 i called the us embassy again and finally my call was picked up by an officer and he informed me to wait for their call or email before sending in my passport and that they only need my nbi ... june 25 i sent it thru aramex and got info that they recieved it june 27!

july 1 they emailed me to bring in my passport... so july 2 once again i went to aramex to drop off my passport they recieved it on july 3 and finally

FiNALLY!!! i finally got a message from the embassy that they released my passport for pick up :) im super thankful it only took 3 weeks from my interview for my visa to get approved and all!

good luck to all of you as well! :) i hope for all of you waiting for your visas dont lose the faith i know how frustrating it is! all the hard work will soon pay off! and its all worth it for the person we love
