We have been reading a number of the K-1 Embassy reviews and it seems that for a number of reviews, the petitioner attended the interview with the fiance(e).

If I was to attend with my fiancee, who is getting a bit nervous for her interview, would it improve our chances for an approval?

Thanks!

Yes... even it is only slightly.

Is it necessary? No.

If you can attend do so it is a great experience and I for one am very glad I was there, my wife would have passed through the interview without issue, but I really treasure the experience.

Agree with Hank.

Being with your fiancée at the visa interview may help, but it certainly doesn't hurt your chances. Additionally, it is a great opportunity to support your future spouse at a very stressful and important time in your relationship.

Due to Guangzhou consulate restrictions, I was unable to personally attend the my wife and stepson's visa interview. However, I was around the corner, nervously enjoying a cup of coffee.

If you can attend, do it!

It will certainly not hurt, so if you are there anyway, by all means go for it.

But the marginal amount by which it increases your chances is so small that to make a special trip halfway around the world just for that purpose is hardly worth the cost.

I was at the interview with my fiance last October. You can see the stress and nervousness

everyone of those women go through. It was a great experience for me, and it really showed

my fiance that i supported her. What I thought was unique, was to see the process. Does it

help that your there, I would say to some extent, but it all boils down to having your package

put together correctly, your there on time, and alot of patience. When my fiance was being

interviewed, the CO told me that at some point she may ask me to leave and talk directly

with my fiance but that never happened. My fiance even with my standing next to her during

the interview was very nervous but she did great! There are many types of interviews taking

place at the same time and you could hear the CO's asking questions. Some CO's seemed

at little tougher with their questions than others. Good Luck!

When the time came when my fiancée had a interview date I was thinking the same thing and was asking VJ members as well. I got the same answer you did from other who posted here. My fiancée said she was ok with going to the interview by herself but was more nervous about the medical lol. But other VJ members advise me that as long as you have everything in order than there is no way of getting a denial. I would have to agree with that cause we didn't go overboard with anything during this process. We didn't front load our petition and all we just submitted what was ask of us and that's it. Still I was a nervous wreck until I got that call back from her after the interview lol.

Based on what I read before my fiancée interview it seem like there was a better chance of approval if the fiancé was there but other rest assure me that we should be fine as long as your fiancée is truthful, smile , dress nice, and have everything in order just in case anything was ask for during the interview and it worked for us. Now if my fiancée was as nervous as your saying then I would have been there cause it would have made her feel a lot better knowing I was there right by her side and be her supporter. You know your fiancée better than all of us so if it makes her feel calm and better by you being there and your able to get there and be with her then I would be with her. If you have all the paperwork showing a true relationship then you will have no problem with he interview regardless if your there or not.

Here's my posting about my fiancée interview: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/500281-visa-approved-and-the-review/

Its all about her and being that support system like you have been all the way to the end which means the world to her. You guys will do great so do what feels right to you :) Good Luck...

So last minute decision - I am going to Manila tonight and arrive Wednesday at 4:10am. And her interview is at 7:30am on Wednesday. Yep, cutting it very close, but it seems that we are doing the whole process this way!

I will let everyone know how it goes.

Thanks again!

That sounds like a good reason to go. Candy can be tough as nails when she needs to be, and seriously, just for moral support I would have been about as useful to her as a screen door on a submarine. Every relationship is unique, so you need to evaluate your own.

Forget joining your lady at the medical or the CFO, by the way. You are not getting in.

You will get a lot out of the experience. It's our Government in action. I have a lot of respect for the CO's who interview applicants day in and day out. They are sharp and can uncover a fraud in minutes. I witness it when I was there for my wife's interview. Once the applicant admitted the fraud she was denied and it will cost her a chance to immigrate to the USA for many years if ever. It involved her sisters son and he will not be going also anytime soon. So here is a mother trying to beat the US Government and she lost big time.

So go, support your fiancé and smile and explain to her she needs to be truthful with her answers and it's ok to say "I don't know". Look the CO in the eye when answering and be relaxed as much as possible.

Good luck...

As everyone suggested, it was really smart that I attended the interview. For the final interview at the third window, the CO actually ended up asking me 90% of the questions, much to the relief of my fiancee :) The visa is approved :)

Review is pending, once I catch up on sleep.

Thank you everyone!

Congrats!! :dancing:

I had much the same experience as I was asked a fair number of the questions by the CO, even the Filipino pre-screener spent more time chatting with me. Very worthwhile experience in my book!
