hi everyone need some help if any can give me a clue that would be greatly appreciated. my fiancé and I went to the interview on 4/28/2014 they interviewed both of us at the end of it the man told us that they will contact us. is that normal? how long will we wait? am I able to call anyone or email to find out anything about my case? anything will help thanks

Not very familiar with US embassy in Haiti. But generally, 2 positive signs after a visa interview is that the applicant's passport was taken and no 221g was given, asking for more documents. Aside from that, it's simply just waiting for an issued status. Before actual visa issuance, they are just doing some 2nd or more checks, and should they need more information, they will definitely contact your fiance.

Some consulates are slower than others at issuing the visa. Manila, which many of us are dealing with now, is pretty darned slow. It may be that Haiti is just slower. Check the site that Sweet Cakes referred you to and find out more. If everything there looks fine, you should be on your way soon. If you don't understand what the site says, post here for more help. And check the regional forum for Haiti, as others who recently got or are waiting for their visas from there may be able to give you an idea of how fast or slow they are.

At some locations, your application will remain in this status until you appear for an interview or until your application is ready for review. Please see the embassy or consulate’s website for information on the next steps required for visa processing.

Are you sure you did not receive a 221g? If you did, you are required to provide something to them before they make a decision.

If you are sure, then "No status" is not a good thing. Especially if they did not take your passport.

Usually that indicates some problem they are trying to resolve. Most of them get resolved quickly. Don't think that the horror stories of months of delay you read about here are the norm. The people with long delays like that are the ones that usually post whereas the ones who get fixed quickly grab their visas and run.

Le't hope you will have a visa to grab and run with shortly. The first sign you are close is when they ask you to bring your passport in. I hope that happens for you soon.

We were in somewhat of the same boat with the exception that they needed to verify my now husband's divorce decree. We were told we should hear something in 2 weeks (via they would call him) It took 2+ months for them to finally issue our approval. We were issued a 221g so it's a positive that you were not. I would suggest start emailing them to check in and see what your status is. My husband (then fiance) never received a call. They ended up emailing us and he had to return to the embassy w/ his passport and pay the Haiti Messager fee. From that point forward it was quick! quick! quick! Hoping you hear something soon!

But again, I wouldn't hesitate to start emailing every day if you have to since it's now been a month since the interview. Be your own best advocate. My emails were very polite and I thanked them so much for their "time" and reply. Don't bother calling CIVA. Complete waste of time and $$.

thanks corey & guyvens I was getting discourage and sad but now you gave me a little hope. do you know were I can find the email address please, i think they didn't give it to us because he was asked about my school and job he describe what i do but didn't know the name so i think they felt some type of way about that.
