Hi,

I am an american student finishing a bachelors in Poland and I work only enough to live and eat here in Poland. I am worried about the fact that both of my parents were cosponsors for student loans for either my sister or me and we already had problems consolidating loans because of the debt/income ratio. Does anyone have experience with the cosponsors having a large debt/income ratio? Has anyone heard about something like this being a problem? Even just about a student with no job yet moving back to America with a fiancee with 0 income for the past few years.

Thanks in advance,

Taylor&Emilka

My fiancée Emilia and I met in October 2009 in Wrocław, Poland while I was doing “study abroad” after graduating High School in California. We started dating in the beginning of December 2009. In September of 2010, I went back to Poland to start a full time study program at the University of Arts in Poznań. I decided to study in Poland because I wanted to be close to Emilia. In October of 2012, Emilia decided to move to Poznań to live with me.

For immigration purposes, no one will be considering debt. You must have income above the prescribed poverty levels for the year as deemed in the poverty guidelines. That's all that is required. In this case your parents must have income exceeding the minimum poverty guidelines for your household size.
