It will be a challenge for you to convince the officer during the interview that you won't be a public charge, but you have to do everything to stack the odds in your favor. Try and get a job now in Morocco, no matter how menial, so that they can see you are willing to work at anything.

Decide the area you want to live in the US, look up cost of living calculators on the internet, look up salaries for jobs you realistically think you can get. Print everything out. Combine all that with however much savings you have and prepare to show that you've done the research, are realistic and motivated to get a job and work.

I don't think there is a specific answer for how much savings you need to convince them. It all depends on your work history & frequency, education, etc. It could be anywhere from $5000 to $20,000+.

They usually don't like to see that you've recently borrowed money, but your last chance is to borrow savings from family members and get them to sign a legal affidavit, that you can show to the CO during the interview, indicating they lent you money and only want to be paid back after you have settled and are employed steadily. But I honestly don't know if that would even work, I'm just throwing it out there.

hi all :

i have my high school degree , i have a vocational diploma , and i don't have any work experiences .

can this be a serious problem for me the day of my interview ?

thank's in advance .

Hi Taoufik,

Yes, that will be a serious problem.

If you have family (including extended family) in the US who either operate their own business, or have connections with business owners, and who can get you a job offer from the US, that will solve the problem. Likewise, if the family or extended family is willing to provide you with an affidavit of support (Form I-134), that will solve the problem too. I suspect they will refuse to provide you with the affidavit though, because if you then become a public charge, the government will go after them to recover the money.

1) Start looking for a job right away. Preferably in the same field as your vocational diploma, but not necessarily. There is a shortage of farm workers in the US, so, if you are physically strong, even farm work experience will help.

2) Ask any extended family you may have in the US if they have enough connections with business owners to get you a job offer when needed for your skill level.

3) Look for a green card lottery registration service that, for an additional fee, will guarantee either a job offer or an affidavit of support if you win.
