Hello,

I am moving out of state in the fall to attend college. I may rent an apartment for use during the academic year but would be returning to Illinois during the breaks and summers - though I wouldn't have my own apartment or house in Illinois. Would I need to file an AR-11 letting USCIS know that I have moved? Or is this not considered a change in residency? Is it different if I decide to get on-campus housing as opposed to off-campus housing? I am LPR.

Thanks for your help!

You should always have an address where you can be reached, so yes, file a change of address (you can do it online at http://www.uscis.gov/addresschange)

Of course for a short stay (like you mentioned, during breaks) you don't need to change your address. If however you are cancelling your lease during the summer at/near the campus, you should have another address ready before you leave.

On of off campus doesn't matter, as long as the postman can find you ;-)
