I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light for me. At the NVC stage I submitted 2010, 2011, and 2012 tax information. For my husbands upcoming interview he will bring an updated I-864 + W2 + transcript of the Joint Sponsor to include tax year 2013 in case the CO requests it. Because I am a USC living and working abroad I have an automatic filing extension. This means he won't be bringing an updated I-864 for me. He will bring my IRS tax extension form plus my foreign equivalent to a W2 to show my 2013 income. Should that be enough to satisfy the CO? Thank you!!!!

There is no way for us to know the answer to your question. It is up to the CO on what is acceptable.

I have researched this myself and found that most CO will ask for the most recent tax transcript or full tax return filed with IRS. If you don't have it at the time of interview they will put you on AP until they get the documents requested. The reason for this is that they can't verify income until it has been filed with the IRS.

Perhaps. If your income will continue from the same source once you're in the USA, a better choice would be to file the tax return even though you qualify for an extension. If the income won't continue, then you really don't need to do anything regarding your affidavit. With zero income, it's accuracy and a signature they're looking for.

Thank you for your response. My income will not continue when I leave my job but to be on the safe side I'll file my return this weekend and give it to my husband just in case.

I figure it's best going into it as prepared as absolutely possible. You never know what they're going to ask for. Thanks again!
