Hello ..

as we know the DS-260 requires all info regarding where we lived since we were 16,

in my case .. i lived in ( India, UAE, Ethiopia and Somalia ).

i went to these website to check the reciprocity tables state if i can get a document from those countries here : http://travel.state....ry/CA.html#docs

i found below :

PCC from UAE - where im living now :

Available in any Police Station ( that is Correct, and i can get it easily )

But ...

PCC from india :

  • Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India.

PCC from Ethiopia :

* Available only to those resident in Ethiopia.

PCC from Somalia :

Police Certificates

Unavailable. ( this is correct too because there is no Functioning Goverment offices in somalia, as its a War Zone ).

I Spoke with Emassies and they confirmed this, they added you need to go there and apply for it, which will cost me alot of money

So What Do you Suggest .. do i need to print these pages and submit it at the time of my Interview .. or should i go and get those PCC .. which is not easy at all

I know of people in the past who have reported that where the site listed documents as unavailable, they did not have to produce them, it is worrying your embassy says you must. If I were you I would print those pages and take to interview and then they may just accept the application as it is; if they say you need them they will put you on AP till you produce them and then you can decide if it is worth it. Of course if latter outcome and you decide you don't want to do that then you will have lost all fees and payments up to that point.

does ds 260 require police report from all the places we have lived in since 16? even if i am just abroad for a year for educational purposes? this could be a problem if i inted to go back and then i dont have these papers with me.. hmm. are there any other papers like this that i should acquire from Sweden before i get back to Nepal (home country)?

All the countries where you resided for over a year since the age of 16 years.

I'm not an official or an attorney!

Its all about a guess work...

I'm just a DVHOLIC :)

Yes, please read the instructions properly where they discuss what you need when as well as tell you how to get from each country....

(If I had a dollar for every time I have posted this this year alone already....)

i checked the validity period at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/SW.html. Which visa classification does DV lottery belong to? and the validity period it shows in that page... is it for police certificate only? what does number of applications signify?

The only things you need worry about on that page are the instructions for the civil documents.
